Linguistic coaching

is a personalized and collaborative approach that aims to unlock an individual’s full potential by creating the right conditions for learning and growth. This method goes beyond traditional language teaching by focusing on developing communication skills and building self-confidence, rather than simply transmitting knowledge.

A linguistic coach works with learners to identify their unique learning goals, strengths, and areas for improvement, creating a tailored plan to help them succeed. The coach provides guidance, support, and motivation, while empowering learners to take charge of their own learning journey.

This approach goes beyond traditional language teaching by emphasizing communication skills development and confidence building, rather than simply imparting knowledge.

« Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: every day I walk myself into a state of well being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. »

Soren Kierkegaard (1813 - 1855)

6 benefits of taking coaching conversations outdoors which contribute to positive outcomes in coachee ratings

Side by side

Walking or sitting alongside the language coach is a unique aspect of outdoor coaching that differs to indoor or digital coaching, where most conversations happen sat opposite each other. Being alongside one another gives the coachees the sense of being less scrutinised, less judged, more relaxed and builds a connection with the language coach.

Outdoor freedom

Being outdoors helped coachees to feel free, open, calm, relaxed or energised and made greater use of metaphor and analogy.

Movement and pace

Being outdoors allows the coachee

to play with movement and pace, to let it reflect their mood and express their emotions. Meandering, walking quickly,

standing or sitting still, give more time and ''space'' for reflection.

Openness, space and expanse

Walking enabled coachees to experience the expanse of the nature.

Different ways of thinking

Being outdoors brought different experiences, different perspective and different ways of thinking to old situations.

Senses, feelings and emotions

Outdoor coaching engaged all the senses (even taste), leading to a fuller experience from the language coaching session.

And what this tells us is that language coaching might be convenient online, enjoyable face to face, but outdoor environments also have significant benefits to offer.
